Private Powerboat Instruction
Precise throttle. Calm docking. Real confidence.
Private powerboat instruction in San Francisco Bay, the Delta, and Northern California — aboard your own vessel, taught by a USCG-licensed captain.

Powerboats reward technique. Small throttle inputs, well-timed shifts, and a clear understanding of how wind and current move your hull — that's the difference between a stressful landing and a graceful one.
What we work on
- Throttle & shift control — smooth application, pivot turns, holding position in wind and current.
- Docking — approach planning, spring-line technique, backing into a slip, med-mooring where relevant.
- Docking in wind & current — reading the Bay, planning your approach, using prop walk to your advantage.
- Close-quarters maneuvering — pivoting single- and twin-screw boats, working around neighboring vessels safely.
- Marina handling — fairway etiquette, fueling, guest-dock arrivals, night operations.
- Safety & emergency procedures — crew overboard drills, engine failure, radio use, safety gear checks.
- Confidence at speed — running trim, sea state, wake management, and awareness in high-traffic areas.
Who this is for
New powerboat owners, sailors moving to power, couples where one partner is less confident at the helm, and experienced operators stepping up to a larger or twin-screw vessel. Also ideal for owners preparing for insurance-required training hours.
